John F. Kennedy Christmas Card


US president John Fitzgerald “Jack” Kennedy is remembered as much for international tensions and his untimely assassination in 1963 as for his peace-making, but it has subsequently transpired that he worked hard to avert conflict and resisted pressure from his hawks to declare all-out war against Cuba. The remarks on this card were made at the Pageant of Peace Ceremonies (the lighting of the Washington National Community Christmas tree) in 1962.
