Please help us to make the Tolpuddle Festival and Museum as sustainable as possible. We come together to celebrate the movement that freed the Tolpuddle Martyrs and to remember their sacrifice. As a force for progressive change we know the importance of tackling the causes of damaging climate change.
Getting to Tolpuddle
Public bus service runs on weekdays only (Mon-Fri) – please click here for the public bus timetable CR9
Shuttle Bus 2025 – In 2025, thanks to the support of Unite, we are excited to announce we are now able to offer a THREE DAY SERVICE to the festival. This will enable day trips on Friday or Saturday, and the option of travelling in every day from Dorchester instead of camping.
There will be seven journeys on Saturday, five on Sunday, and a top up two journeys on Friday. In order to ensure capacity is maintained please book the exact journeys you need from the three pages below. Any remaining seats will be sold on a first-come-first-serve basis and cannot be guaranteed. All ticket sales are subject to our Tickets Terms and Conditions.
Sunday Coach for organised coaches by unions/trades councils/organisations – any which we have been informed about are listed here in case you there are spare seats
No single-use plastic please
The battle to reduce plastic includes the Tolpuddle Martyrs’ Festival. We are some way off from eliminating plastic altogether but we can cut a lot out, reduce waste, reuse and recycle.
We have told stall holders not to sell single-use bottled water, instead we hope people will bring re-useable containers. There are plenty of water taps on hand and its free!
Stall holders are required to use biodegradable cutlery, plates and cups. The Workers’ Beer Company will be using re-useable cups via a non-refundable deposit scheme. The cups can be used many times and can be recycled at the end of their life. A small charge will be added to the first drink bought. When you bring your cup back for another drink you will be given a fresh cup. Please ensure cups are returned at the end of the festival.
We urge stall holders, including unions, to reduce their plastic freebies. Using the Tolpuddle Festival to promote their campaigns is important and it can be done without generating plastic waste.
Recycle
The Tolpuddle Martyrs’ Festival aims to recycle as much of its waste as possible. Recycling points are dispersed all over the site – please use them.
Green energy
The buildings have had their insulation upgraded and energy efficient lights fitted. Solar panels on the cottages and Liberty Barn in the children’s area generate more electricity than we use. The Festival is carbon-neutral.
