10.00 – 11.00 performance – Nature Voices – conscious boom bap hip hop from rapper, producer and multi-instrumentalist Martin Sheills. Martin entertains, educates and inspires audiences to care for the natural world and those with whom we share it, by way of endearing characters describing themselves and their lives in the novel format of boom bap hip-hop.
11.30 – 12.00 yoga for YoGA – with Victoria Boast from Sìdà Yoga – get your day going with some gentle seated yoga practice (ideal for beginners and experienced yoga practitioners alike)
12:30 – 14:00 Year of Green Activity (workshop)
UNISON’s policy officer Michelle Singleton will lead this workshop on the theme of UNISON’s year of green activity (including challenging the far right narrative and building worker power) and there will be a screening of a supportive video by Chris Packham (15 minutes) – there may even be a quiz!
14:30 – 15:30 placard making workshop – UNISON members Roberta and Mike Wakefield will facilitate this workshop where you can make your own placard to carry with you on the march on Sunday. It’s time to show your pride and your solidarity!
16:00 – 17:00 performance – Big Mambo are a dynamic Bristol-based all-female band, with a unique blend of original funk, rock and pop, wrapped up nicely in an eclectic fusion of rhythmic styles & catchy melodies!
The UNISON marquee will be open throughout the weekend for you to drop in and find out more about us, our current campaigns, and grab some goodies (donations to our welfare charity “there for you” are warmly encouraged in exchange).
Sunday 19 July
We will be joined on the march by the Bristol Sambistas samba band, so come and dance through the village with the UNISON bloc.
